Background:
This story was written five years ago and it was the first story I wrote in English. Moreover it was the first story that I ever posted to the Internet. It was posted to alt.sex.stories in July 1999 (after much lurking around until I dared to do it) and reposted one year later.
If you read 'Paradise Island -- Ingrid's Tale' that was posted a few weeks ago, you know most of the tale. However, the present story is the original that Ingrid tells her great granddaughter about. It is encouraging to know that at least two person liked Ingrid's Tale and I think that this story has a certain naive charm. Therefore, I decided to revise it and post it again. I think I'm a better author now and the urge to make major changes to the story was nearly overwhelming. However, I restrained myself to a mild editing and not much is changed in this version, compared to what was posted in 2000.
Synopsis:
The main character, Linda Plummer, is a young, aspiring journalist, working at a local newspaper in La Jolla, California. One day she finds a suspicious advertisement on the Internet. She suspects that the promised position as 'hostess' at a tropical resort could have something to do with the white slave trade and goes there to investigate (hoping to make a scoop and become famous). Linda's suspicion turns out to be true -- in a sense. 'Bob', a multi-billionaire in the computer industry, wants to hire her and thirteen other young women as his 'slavegirls'. However, he pays them handsomely -- two million dollars (plus expenses) each for a four-year contract. Linda decides to decline but then she falls in love with a native young man, Peo, and changes her mind. Ten other women also accept the contract and the eleven slavegirls are trained by 'Mistress Mona'. Then, they are 'adopted' by Bob and assigned various 'mundane' and sexual tasks. After various adventures, Linda marries Peo and stays on Paradise Island, as described in Ingrid's tale.
Because of its length, the story has been split into three parts and this separate preface (counted as part 0). This division in parts is arbitrary and has nothing to do with the story-line.
Disclaimer:
This is a work of fiction and the characters are fictional (except that Bill Gates appears peripherally as a public figure). Any similarity to real people, living or dead, is entirely accidental. Places and events that serve as backgrounds to the story are modelled on their 'real' counterparts and I have strived to keep them as close to the original as possible. However, I have not hesitated to use my 'poetic license' to change them, as required by my story. In particular, the island Rarotonga has nothing to do with the island with the same name in the Cook's Islands group -- my fictional Rarotonga is a part of Kosrae in the Micronesian federation.
English is not my native tongue and I have probably made several silly spelling and grammatical errors. Please, tell me if you find any errors that upset you.
The author does not necessarily condone or endorse all the actions of his characters (and wholeheartedly disagrees with some of them). However, my characters tend to have a mind of their own and they often surprise me. In particular, I detest rape in all forms -- there is a rape scene in the story but I let the culprit have a fitting reward. Naturally, this story occurs in a world without sexually transmitted diseases and other ugly facts of 'the real world'.
In other words, this is a fantasy! Don't try to realize it!
